Deanna Newell is an experienced Business and Legal Affairs Attorney in the areas of Television and Digital Media. Ms. Newell is excited to work at Andrew Marcus Associates and provide her services for Mr. Marcus’ vast array of clients in the ever-expanding digital arena. As a freelance consultant, Ms. Newell has also provided legal services for various companies, such as theAudience, Kinetic Content, Fox, Relativity Digital Studios and NBC Universal Digital. Before starting her consulting business, Ms. Newell was the Senior Corporate Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs for Specific Media and Myspace LLC, where she met and worked with Mr. Marcus for several years. In her position at Myspace, she negotiated and drafted original online content acquisition and production deals and oversaw all online sweepstakes, user-generated contests and promotions, advising on the legalities and structure of promotions, including compliance with federal and state laws. Prior to Myspace, Ms. Newell was the Director, Business and Legal Affairs, for Vin Di Bona Productions, producer of the hit series America’s Funniest Home Videos, where she negotiated and drafted development and production agreements, performed production clearance and oversaw its new media matters and the registration and maintenance of the companies intellectual properties. Ms. Newell has also worked as an attorney at Fox Family Worldwide and NBC Enterprises. As an adjunct professor at West Los Angeles College, she teaches “Entertainment Law” and “Introduction to the Law.” She is a graduate of Southwestern University School of Law and Indiana University.
